On August 18, the Bharatiya Senior Citizens of Chicago (BSC) hosted a special event featuring renowned comedian Jagdish Trivedi at the Rana Reagan Center in Carol Stream. The gathering, which successfully combined entertainment with philanthropy, attracted hundreds of senior attendees.
The event began with BSC President Haribhai Patel welcoming Jagdish Trivedi with a traditional phoolhar (garland). Attendees also honored the late Shri Rajendrabhai Anjaria, a cherished member of the organization, with a two-minute silence in his memory. President Patel highlighted Anjaria’s contributions to the community during the tribute.
During the program, Jagdish Trivedi marked India’s 78th Republic Day by performing patriotic songs that energized the crowd. He also presented a touching video featuring deaf-mute children from Umang School in Ahmedabad. Moved by their stories, the audience responded with remarkable generosity, raising $50,000 within just 30 minutes due to Trivedi’s emotional appeal.
The event’s success was largely attributed to the efforts of BSC executive members Navinbhai Dholakia and Madarsang Chawda. The evening concluded with a delicious dinner, leaving attendees with a strong sense of community and fulfillment.
The $50,000 donation will support the education and care of special needs children at Umang School, demonstrating the community’s commitment to charitable causes both locally and internationally.
