External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, expressing gratitude for his consistent support for India’s growth and development.
Jaishankar also appreciated Guterres’ assessment of the global order and his perspectives on key regional issues, adding that he looks forward to hosting the UN chief in India soon.
“Good to meet with UNSG Antonio Guterres in New York today… Thank him for clear and consistent support for India’s growth and development. Look forward to welcoming him in India,” Jaishankar posted on X on Friday.
On Tuesday, Guterres conveyed his condolences to India over the deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, which killed several people and injured over 20. His Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq said the incident “needs to be fully investigated.”
The explosion, involving a Haryana-registered vehicle near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, has been declared a terrorist attack by the Union Cabinet. Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed that agencies “will get to the bottom of this conspiracy.”
The Cabinet resolution urged a swift and professional probe to bring the perpetrators, collaborators, and sponsors to justice.
