On June 23rd, 2024, the BSC of Chicago successfully celebrated their yearly planned picnic, drawing over 1200 members, friends, and well-wishers. The event, planned meticulously by the BSC committee, showcased the vibrant community spirit and enthusiasm of its senior members.
The picnic, scheduled from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, saw dedicated BSC committee members and volunteers arriving as early as 7:00 am to set up. Anticipating a large turnout, preparations had started weeks in advance under the leadership of BSC President Haribhai Patel.
The food team was well-prepared to meet the culinary needs of the attendees. The feast, which ran from 9 am to 12:30 pm, was a major hit among the participants.
With temperatures soaring into the 90s, staying hydrated was crucial. Six igloos were filled with water, cold drinks, coconut water, mango lassi, kulfi, and snowballs to help attendees beat the heat. The scrumptious lunch was loved by all the members.
The picnic was not just about food and drink; it was filled with engaging activities and games. Popular Indian games such as Bingo, Musical Chairs, and traditional Garba dances kept the seniors entertained. Prizes were awarded to the winners, adding a competitive spirit to the fun.
As the picnic drew to a close, BSC President Haribhai Patel thanked all the sponsors, DJ Ajay Makwana for providing lively music, and URU Swati food for their catering services. The event was a testament to the strong sense of community and the dedication of the BSC Chicago team in creating a memorable day for its senior members. The annual picnic not only provided a day of enjoyment but also reinforced the bonds within the BSC community, highlighting the importance of togetherness and active engagement in the lives of seniors.
