
NASSCOM VP highlights India’s IT industry potential in Chicago visit

Mr. Shivendra Singh, Vice President of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), visited Chicago on July 1, 2024, for a pivotal engagement organized by the Consulate General of India. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between India’s IT sector and key stakeholders in the USA.
During his visit, Mr. Singh participated in several significant meetings facilitated by the Consulate General. He engaged in one-on-one discussions with Mr. Abin Kuriakose, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer of the World
Business Organization, Chicago; Ms. Margo Markopoulos, Director of the Office of Trade & Investment at the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity; and
Mr. Sivasankar Moopanar, Director
PAC of IT Serve, along with its members.
Highlighting the strategic importance of India’s IT industry for the US, Mr. Singh delivered a keynote address titled “IT and ICT Industry in
India: Innovation, Growth and Opportunities” at the Consulate premises. The session drew an audience of approximately sixty attendees, including IT startup entrepreneurs, senior business representatives, and officials from regional chambers of commerce and federal government agencies.
In his remarks, Mr. Singh underscored the rapid expansion of India’s DeepTech startup ecosystem, emphasizing advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and Robotics. He articulated the potential for collaboration and growth between Indian and American tech enterprises, highlighting emerging opportunities in the sector.
