
Chicago embraces ‘Green Living and Circular Economy’

The Global Indian Diaspora, in partnership with the National India Hub, hosted the Distinguished Lecture on Sustainability, focusing on “Green Living and Circular Economy.” Over 100 attendees, including business leaders, government officials, and community members, gathered to discuss sustainable practices.
Consul General Sh. Somnath Ghosh opened the event, emphasizing the consulate’s role in fostering collaboration for a sustainable future. Dy Consul General T.D. Bhutia underscored the importance of green living from the Indian government’s perspective.
Rakesh Malhotra, President of the Global Indian Diaspora Foundation, stressed the need for renewable energy and eco-friendly practices, urging adoption of the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Keynote speaker Navin Medishetty from the India Chamber of Commerce highlighted sustainable practices, resource conservation, and the integration of environmental responsibility with economic success.
Abhinava Raina, General Secretary of the Foundation, outlined the organization’s mission to bridge the Indian diaspora with U.S. and Indian governments, promoting economic and cultural ties. Harish Kolasani spoke about the National India Hub’s role in community engagement. The event successfully promoted sustainability and set a precedent for future initiatives.
