HM Shah Promises to End Naxal Violence in India by 2026
Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with victims of Naxal violence from Chhattisgarh at his residence, assuring them that their demands would be addressed and that Naxalism would be eradicated from India by 2026.
During the meeting, Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to ending Naxalism and restoring peace in affected regions. He expressed deep sorrow for the suffering caused by Naxal violence, stating, “Those who use weapons to harm innocent people undermine the stability of society.”
Shah assured the victims that Naxalism would be completely eradicated by March 31, 2026, highlighting the Modi government’s resolve to tackle the issue. He stated that Naxalism is detrimental to humanity and society as a whole. “Prime Minister Modi has made it clear that both Naxalism and its supporting ideology will be eliminated, paving the way for peace,” he said.
He noted that while Naxalism had spread across various regions, the Union government has successfully curtailed its influence, leaving only a few areas still affected. Shah praised the resilience of the victims and thanked them for coming forward to share their experiences.
The Home Minister assured the victims that the Union and Chhattisgarh governments would soon roll out new welfare schemes aimed at enhancing their quality of life and protecting their rights. He mentioned that previous requests from the Chhattisgarh government, including proposals for assistance under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ for housing, toilets, and electricity, had already been approved by Prime Minister Modi.
Addressing broader issues, Shah committed to swiftly addressing medical facilities, employment opportunities, and other essential needs for the victims of Naxal violence, with relevant departments taking prompt action.
As the meeting concluded, he urged those involved in Naxal violence to lay down their arms and choose the path of peace, reaffirming the commitment of both the Central and Chhattisgarh governments to work for the betterment of the victims and to eliminate Naxalism nationwide.
