Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to lead the BJP’s campaign for the third phase of Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. He will address five rallies, starting the day in Chenani, followed by a meeting in Udhampur, then rallies in Bani and Jasrota, and concluding with a public gathering in Madh.

The third phase of voting in the Union Territory is scheduled for October 1.

Shah has reassured residents of J&K that there is no fear of cross-border firing, stating, “If Pakistan fires a bullet, we will respond with a mortar shell.” During a recent campaign rally in Nowshera, he emphasized that concrete bunkers have been constructed in border areas, but asserted that their necessity has diminished.

He criticized the Congress and National Conference, claiming they oppose reservations for various communities, including Gujjars and Paharis. Shah quoted Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks in the U.S. about reservations, arguing that these parties aim to undermine support for marginalized groups.

Addressing NC leader Farooq Abdullah, Shah stated that past governments failed to provide reservations and promised that the BJP would ensure reservations for Paharis, enhancing opportunities for future generations.

He asserted that the Modi government would eradicate terrorism in J&K, dismissing any possibility of dialogue with Pakistan until terrorism is completely eliminated. Shah assured the audience that no terrorists or stone pelters would be released from custody.

Shah also accused the NC and Congress of attempting to alter the names of significant local landmarks, affirming that Shankaracharya Hill and Hari Parbat would retain their names for generations.

He encouraged Nowshera voters to support BJP candidate Ravinder Raina, claiming his influence in Delhi. Shah concluded by emphasizing the improved security in the region since the BJP took power, highlighting recent cultural events and tourism developments.

He promised future projects, including tourist destinations in Jammu, increased health treatment limits, financial assistance for farmers, and government jobs, while also detailing various welfare initiatives aimed at supporting families and enhancing local infrastructure.
