Celebrating Culture and Compassion: VHPA Chicago’s Soul of Kashi event raises funds for underprivileged children

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHPA) Chicago Chapter held its 2024 Annual Support a Child Program titled “Soul of Kashi” at the Rana Regan Centre in Carol Stream, IL, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of 150 attendees. This impactful event featured an array of talented artists, including Pt. Ashok Pandey (Tabla), Pt. Sukhdev Prasad Mishra (Violin), Shri Jai Pandey Kokil (Vocalist), Shri Shree Pandey (Tabla & Percussion), Sushri Mira Tripathi (Vocalist), and Shri Yashpal (Keyboard).

The evening commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony conducted by Mr. Harendra Mangrola (VHPA Chicago Chapter President), Mr. Haribhai Patel (President, Bhartiya Senior Citizens of Chicago), Mr. Nimish Jani (Community Leader), and Mr. Amitabh Mittal (General Secretary, VHPA).

The program began with a prayer to Mahadev by Shri Jai Pandey Kokil, followed by devotional songs dedicated to Prabhu Shri Ram and Lord Krishna, highlighting the need for a temple in Mathura.

Sushri Mira Tripathi then enchanted the audience with “Meri Jhopri ke Bhag aaj khul Jayenge Ram Aayenge,” supported by the harmonious melodies of Yashpal on keyboard, Shree Pandey on tabla, and Pt. Sukhdev on violin. Next, a captivating jugalbandi featuring Pt. Ashok Pandey on tabla and Pt. Sukhdev Prasad Mishra on violin had the audience spellbound and actively engaged.

The program culminated with a lively segment of Bollywood classics from the 60s and 70s that resonated with attendees. Donation appeals were made by Haribhai Patel and Amitabh Mittal, with the Chicago Chapter pledging support for 40 students.

Mr. Nirav K. Patel expressed heartfelt thanks to all donors, attendees, and the media, including Jayanti Oza and Ms. Vandana Jhingan from TV ASIA, as well as I-USA. The evening concluded with a delicious dinner, leaving participants inspired and eager to continue supporting this noble cause.
