China Expresses Willingness to Strengthen Bilateral Relations with India

Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, stated on Wednesday that Beijing is keen to work with India to advance bilateral relations on a “healthy and stable track.”

His remarks followed President Droupadi Murmu’s congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the people of China on the occasion of the 75th National Day, which was celebrated on Tuesday.

Xu Feihong posted on X, “President Droupadi Murmu sent her best wishes to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people. China is willing to work with India to advance bilateral relations based on mutual respect, understanding, trust, accommodation, and accomplishment.”

Alongside his comment, the Ambassador shared President Murmu’s message, dated September 27, in which she expressed her hopes for the Chinese President’s health and for the prosperity of the Chinese people.

She emphasized the importance of peaceful and stable relations between the two large neighboring countries, noting, “As we face many common developmental challenges and share regional interests, it is crucial that we collaborate towards a mutually beneficial relationship.”

In a recent meeting between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Saint Petersburg, both officials recognized the significance of India-China relations not only for their countries but also for the broader region and the world.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that the meeting provided an opportunity to review progress on resolving outstanding issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which is essential for stabilizing and rebuilding bilateral relations.

Both sides committed to urgently pursue complete disengagement in remaining areas. NSA Doval highlighted that peace and tranquility in border regions, along with respect for the LAC, are vital for normalizing bilateral relations. The MEA reiterated the need for both nations to adhere to past agreements, protocols, and understandings.
