EAM Jaishankar Engages in ‘Productive’ Talks with US NSA Sullivan

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had a “productive” meeting with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Wednesday.

In a post on X, Jaishankar expressed that the conversation covered bilateral cooperation and offered valuable insights into global politics. A formal statement from the White House regarding the meeting is still pending.

According to the State Department, the discussions focused on the two nations’ “enduring commitment to deepening bilateral ties,” coordinating on regional and global challenges, and advancing cooperation in critical and emerging technologies.

Jaishankar’s meeting with Sullivan is part of a series of engagements with senior officials in the Biden administration following his address at the UN General Assembly in New York. On Tuesday, he also met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s August visit to Kyiv and reiterated the necessity of a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.

India’s efforts to maintain communication with both Moscow and Kyiv are garnering attention, as New Delhi positions itself as a unique mediator capable of engaging both parties in the conflict.

Additionally, they discussed expanding collaboration on clean energy initiatives to combat the global climate crisis.
