Sunny Deol Unveils First Look of ‘JATT’ on His Birthday
Sunny Deol, riding high on the success of his blockbuster ‘Gadar 2,’ celebrated his birthday by unveiling the first look of his upcoming film, ‘JATT.’ The striking poster features Sunny wielding a vintage fan, poised for action, with the tagline: “Introducing a man with a national permit for massive action.”
Directed by Gopichand Malineni and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, the film also stars Randeep Hooda and Saiyami Kher. While the release date is yet to be confirmed, reports suggest it is set to hit theaters on Republic Day 2025.
In addition to ‘JATT,’ Sunny Deol is working on another film titled ‘Lahore 1947,’ produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Preity Zinta will play the female lead. Reports indicate that the team recently completed a 70-day shooting schedule featuring intense action sequences. Sunny has previously collaborated with Santoshi on successful films like ‘Ghayal’ and ‘Damini,’ earning a Best Actor award for the former and a Best Supporting Actor award for the latter.
Sunny Deol made his acting debut alongside Amrita Singh in ‘Betaab’ and went on to star in hits such as ‘Arjun,’ ‘Tridev,’ and ‘Chaalbaaz.’ The 90s saw him deliver massive successes with films like ‘Ghayal,’ ‘Vishwatma,’ ‘Damini,’ and ‘Darr,’ the latter featuring Shah Rukh Khan as the antagonist. Despite initially being the hero, Sunny’s role was overshadowed, leading to a long-standing rivalry between the two actors.
In addition to his film career, Sunny served as a Lok Sabha MP for the BJP but faced criticism for not dedicating enough time to his constituency. He later announced that he would not pursue politics further and did not contest in the 2024 elections.
