Ayodhya prepares for Deepotsav, aims to set world record with over 2.5 million diyas

Ayodhya is all set for its grand Deepotsav celebration, with plans to light 2.5 million diyas to establish a new world record.

Diyas have been delivered to all 55 ghats along the sacred ‘Ram Ki Paidi,’ and volunteers have begun arranging them in intricate patterns. Each ghat will feature rows of diyas organized in a 16×16 grid, totaling 256 diyas per block. Over 30,000 volunteers from Awadh University and its 36 affiliated colleges, along with local non-profit organizations, are actively involved in this monumental effort. In just two days, 2.8 million diyas will be placed on Ram Ki Paidi, with the goal of lighting at least 2.5 million.

This year’s Deepavali is particularly special as it marks the first celebration with Lord Ram in the newly consecrated Ram Temple. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath aims to make this Deepotsav a magnificent event, reminiscent of the divine welcome in Treta Yuga.

Local resident Harshit Kumar expressed his excitement, saying, “I’ve participated in the diya lighting for three years. This year, we’re decorating four ghats with around 60,000 diyas. I’m grateful to CM Yogi for organizing this event so beautifully; it’s an honor to be involved.”

First-time volunteer Aditya shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We arrived this morning, and it’s thrilling to be part of the Deepotsav. Lighting diyas here is a special experience.”

In addition to the diya lighting, a spectacular drone show is planned for Diwali, enhancing the grandeur of Ayodhya’s Deepotsav, which has become a global symbol of celebration and devotion.
