Turkey, Lebanon Agree to Collaborate on Syrian Issues

Turkey and Lebanon have agreed to work together on Syrian issues following the downfall of Bashar al-Assad, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced.

“A new era has begun in Syria. As two key neighbors of Syria, we agree that we must act together,” Erdogan stated during a joint press conference on Wednesday with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who is visiting Turkey.

Erdogan emphasized that Syria’s stability is essential for the region’s overall stability, adding that the reconstruction of war-torn Syria will be a top priority for both countries.

The Turkish president also noted that Israeli attacks on Lebanon are not new, pointing out that Lebanon has faced similar assaults in recent years. He reaffirmed that Turkey will support Lebanon in the face of Israeli aggression and urged Israel to adhere to ceasefire agreements.

Prime Minister Mikati expressed gratitude for Turkey’s support during Lebanon’s recent conflict with Israel. He condemned Israel for exploiting Syria’s political instability and expanding its occupation of Syrian territories, calling for increased pressure on Israel to halt these actions.

Mikati, leading a Lebanese delegation, arrived in Turkey on Wednesday to discuss regional developments and strengthen bilateral ties with Turkish officials.
