Assam Chief Minister meets Union Home Minister Amit Shah

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming investment summit, Advantage Assam 2.

Taking to social media platform X, CM Sarma shared, “Today in New Delhi, I had the honour of meeting Home Minister @amitshah Ji to seek his guidance for #AdvantageAssam2.”

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister emphasized that Assam is actively promoting investor-friendly policies to attract investments. He highlighted that Assam has the best semiconductor policy in the country, offering additional incentives beyond the central government’s support.

“Assam is aggressively pushing for investor-friendly policies. Our Semiconductor policy is the best in the country—over and above the Centre’s incentives to semiconductor industries, we are providing 50 per cent additional PLI and all related infrastructure and policy support,” he stated.

The Advantage Assam summit, scheduled for February 25-26, aims to bring major investments to the state. CM Sarma assured that this initiative will generate employment opportunities and foster entrepreneurship in Assam.

As part of the investment push, CM Sarma has traveled to South Korea, Japan, and Singapore, engaging with top industry leaders to invite investments into Assam.

In addition to economic development, the summit will showcase Assam’s rich cultural heritage. The event will feature a grand Jhumur dance performance by over 7,500 dancers and artists, celebrating the traditions of Assam’s tea tribe communities.

“This summit is a platform to showcase Assam’s rich traditions to a global audience in addition to attracting investors,” CM Sarma said.

Preparations for the large-scale cultural event are in full swing. The Chief Minister assured that “perfect execution will be ensured through master training workshops, constituency-level sessions, district-level performances, and final rehearsals in Guwahati.”

The cultural showcase follows Assam’s recent success in setting a Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance.
