
Sitharaman to showcase India’s growth in US, Peru
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will embark on an official visit to the United States and Peru starting April 20, aiming to highlight India’s economic growth and strengthen bilateral and multilateral partnerships.
During her visit to the US from April 20 to 25, the Finance Minister will travel to San Francisco and Washington, DC. In San Francisco, she is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, titled “Laying the foundations of Viksit Bharat 2047”. A fireside chat will follow the keynote session.
FM Sitharaman will also engage with top fund managers during a roundtable with investors, and hold one-on-one meetings with CEOs of leading IT companies based in San Francisco. Additionally, she will participate in a community event and interact with members of the Indian diaspora in the city.
In Washington, DC, she will attend the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meetings, the Development Committee Plenary, IMFC Plenary, and the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable (GSDR).
On the sidelines of these events, FM Sitharaman will hold bilateral meetings with finance leaders from countries including the US, UK, Germany, France, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, and Luxembourg. She will also meet with top officials from the EU, ADB, AIIB, and the UN.
Her first official visit to Peru will take place from April 26 to 30. In Lima, the Finance Minister will lead a delegation of Indian officials and business leaders to promote deeper economic cooperation.
She is expected to meet Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen, along with ministers overseeing finance, economy, defence, energy, and mines.
The visit will include the India-Peru Business Forum, where representatives from both countries will explore investment and trade opportunities. She will also interact with Indian investors and companies operating in Peru, and connect with the Indian diaspora at a community event in Lima.
