FIA elects new Executive Committee to lead Midwest Indian-American community into 2025–2026

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), one of the Midwest’s largest and most influential Indian-American nonprofit organizations, announced the unanimous election of its new Executive Committee for the 2025–2026 term. The announcement was made following the organization’s Annual General Body Meeting, held in Chicago on April 27.

The election process was conducted under the oversight of the FIA Election Committee, led by outgoing President Mr. Nitin Patel and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bharat Barai.

It currently serves as an umbrella group for over 60 cultural, religious, educational, and professional organizations. Through its long-standing commitment to cultural preservation, civic engagement, and community service, FIA continues to strengthen the voice and visibility of the Indian-American community in mainstream American life.

Newly elected FIA Executive Committee (2025–2026):

      • Hemant Patel – President

      • Anil Singh – Executive Vice President

      • Joy (Dipen) Shah – Vice President

      • Shailesh Rajput – Vice President

      • Rohit Joshi – Vice President

      • Arvind Ankleshvaria – Joint Secretary

      • Dr. Avi Verma – Secretary

      • Amar Upadhyay – Treasurer

      • Roshan Patel – Joint Treasurer

    In a joint statement, the newly elected team expressed their gratitude to FIA trustees, affiliated organizations, and the Indian-American community for their trust and support. The leadership also affirmed its commitment to uphold the organization’s core values of unity, service, and cultural pride—while respecting the Constitution of the United States and FIA’s guiding principles.

    “This is a proud moment for all of us,” said incoming President Hemant Patel and Dr. Avi Verma incoming Secretary. “With renewed energy and teamwork, we aim to expand FIA’s reach, deepen community engagement, and make a lasting impact across the Midwest.”

    The new committee will begin its term with several upcoming initiatives focused on youth leadership, cultural celebrations, civic participation, and charitable outreach.
