Shubhanshu Shukla to launch to ISS on June 8
May 15, 2025
Axiom Space has rescheduled its Ax-4 mission, which will carry Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla to the International Space Station (ISS), for June 8. The mission was originally set for May 29.
Shukla will serve as mission pilot aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, launching from Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 9:11 a.m. ET (6:41 p.m. IST). He will fly alongside Commander Peggy Whitson (US), and mission specialists from Poland and Hungary.
This marks the first time an Indian astronaut will visit the ISS and India’s return to human spaceflight after four decades. While in space, Shukla will oversee systems operations and participate in research on cyanobacteria’s performance in microgravity.
