Scarlett Johansson says Oscars overlooked ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Scarlett Johansson has voiced disappointment over the Oscars snubbing Avengers: Endgame, saying the film deserved a Best Picture nomination.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Johansson said, “It was an impossible movie that should not have worked, that really works as a film — and also, it’s one of the most successful films of all time.” The blockbuster only received a nomination for Visual Effects.

She emphasized that commercial success shouldn’t exclude a film from major awards recognition.

Although Marvel films have received Oscar nods, primarily in technical categories, few have been considered for Best Picture. Johansson also confirmed she won’t return to the MCU, saying Black Widow’s arc is complete.
