SIA conducts multiple raids across Kashmir in terror probe

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Saturday launched simultaneous raids at 11 locations across Kashmir in an ongoing investigation into terror-related activities.

Supported by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the raids took place in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Handwara, Sopore, and Baramulla. These actions target terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers suspected of aiding Pakistan-based handlers through encrypted apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Signal.

Officials said no arrests have been made so far. The operation follows a similar raid on May 11 that covered 20 sites in Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, and Shopian.

The raids are conducted in the presence of executive magistrates and are part of efforts to dismantle terror sleeper cells. The SIA is also known for investigating the 2020 murder of advocate Babar Qadri, for which several suspects, including former bar association president Mian Qayoom, were charge-sheeted.

Authorities emphasized that such firm action is crucial to restoring peace and curbing terrorism in the region.
