
Overseas Friends of BJP convene to boost U.S.-India relations
At a high-profile national convention of the Overseas Friends of BJP-USA (OFBJP-USA), leaders emphasized the growing influence of the Indian diaspora in strengthening ties between the world’s two largest democracies.
Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, who heads the overseas affairs department of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said the group’s mission goes beyond politics. “OFBJP-USA is a committed community of volunteers and well-wishers working to build stronger India-U.S. relations at every level,” he said. Dr. Chauthaiwale highlighted the critical role of Indian Americans—describing them as “prosperous, well-educated, and respected”—and reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s belief in the diaspora as “India’s informal ambassadors.”The convention focused on dispelling misconceptions about India and offering a balanced, forward-looking perspective on US India comprehensive and strategic partnership , leadership, and global vision said Dr.Adapa Prasad, President of OFBJP USA
Ashwin Johar, OFBJP’s North America coordinator, underscored the organization’s efforts to engage with U.S. lawmakers, policymakers, and Indian American constituents. “These conventions unify our community and strengthen Indo-American ties by promoting mutual understanding and shared democratic values,” Johar said.
Community stalwart and prominent physician Dr. Bharat Barai praised the convention as a “platform for meaningful dialogue and strategic collaboration,” empowering volunteers to amplify their efforts in fostering cross-border partnership.As U.S.-India relations continue to evolve, such grassroots efforts may hold the key to enhancing diplomacy through community-driven advocacy.
