After concluding the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for Brasília on a State Visit, where he will meet Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to discuss key aspects of India-Brazil relations.

Calling his Brazil visit “very productive,” PM Modi posted on X: “Now on the way to Brasília for the State Visit. Will hold detailed talks with President Lula on different aspects of India-Brazil ties. My bilateral meetings with world leaders will also boost India’s friendship with various nations.”

In his remarks during the BRICS session on Environment, COP-30, and Global Health earlier in the day, PM Modi lauded the platform for prioritising environmental and health security. “These subjects are not only interconnected but also crucial for the future of humanity,” he said.

Emphasising India’s commitment to climate justice, PM Modi said that balancing life and nature is central to the Indian ethos. “It’s not just about energy; it’s a way of life,” he noted.

He highlighted initiatives such as Mission LiFE, the International Solar Alliance, and the Green Hydrogen Mission. He also stressed India’s leadership in promoting sustainable development during its G20 Presidency, referencing the Green Development Pact and Green Credits Initiative.

The Prime Minister praised Brazil’s leadership of BRICS and the timely focus on environmental issues as COP-30 is set to take place in Brazil.

PM Modi’s visit aims to further deepen India’s strategic partnership with Brazil, especially in areas like climate cooperation, global governance, trade, and South-South collaboration.
