Indo-US energy ties strengthen as Indian Oil delegation visits Houston

In a significant step toward deepening bilateral energy cooperation, the Consulate General of India in Houston welcomed a high-level delegation comprising Executive Directors from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), and senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.

The delegation is in Houston to engage with leading U.S. energy firms, focusing on long-term partnerships for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply. With India aiming to diversify its energy sources and reduce dependence on traditional suppliers, the United States has emerged as a strategic partner in securing reliable and sustainable LPG imports.

According to industry sources, India plans to source up to 10% of its LPG imports from the U.S. starting in 2026, marking a pivotal shift in its energy procurement strategy. The discussions in Houston covered supply mechanisms, pricing frameworks, and sustainability goals—aligning with India’s broader energy security agenda.

Consul General Manjunath Chenneerappa hosted the delegation at the Consulate, emphasizing the importance of energy diplomacy in strengthening Indo-US relations. “This visit reflects our shared commitment to building resilient, diversified, and future-ready energy partnerships,” he said.

The IndoUS Tribune applauds this collaborative effort and recognizes the delegation’s role in advancing #IndiaUSRelations#EnergySecurity, and #SustainableEnergy. As global energy dynamics evolve, such initiatives underscore the value of strategic engagement and mutual trust.
