Delta Airlines Co-Pilot Arrested at San Francisco Airport by ICE Agents

San Francisco, CA: Federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), arrested a Delta Airlines co-pilot upon landing at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday. The arrest was carried out in connection with charges related to child sexual abuse material.

The pilot, identified as 34-year-old Matthew Connelly, was taken into custody following an investigation led by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department, which had been ongoing since April 2025. According to official sources and eyewitness accounts, approximately ten federal agents entered the aircraft and apprehended Connelly directly from the cockpit before escorting him through the passenger cabin.

Passengers on board described the incident as sudden and distressing. “It was rage-inducing to see someone being disappeared right in front of me,” said witness Sarah Christianson, who was seated near the front of the plane.

Authorities at San Francisco International Airport confirmed they are cooperating with federal law enforcement in connection with the arrest but have not released further details. ICE officials have also declined to comment on whether immigration status played a role, citing an active federal investigation.

This arrest marks a significant escalation in ICE’s operations involving aviation personnel and has drawn public attention to security protocols and law enforcement procedures at major transit hubs.

The case remains under federal investigation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
