India, Singapore strengthen strategic ties at 3rd Ministerial Roundtable
India and Singapore have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation during the third India–Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), held in New Delhi on Wednesday. The talks focused on six key pillars: digitalisation, skill development, sustainability, healthcare, connectivity, and advanced manufacturing.
The Indian delegation was led by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Singapore was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Home Affairs K. Shanmugam, Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, Digital Development and Information Minister Josephine Teo, Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng, and Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow.
Jaishankar praised Singapore’s continued commitment to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), highlighting the synergy between government and industry as a driver for the next phase of relations. He noted that the ISMR also engaged with the India–Singapore Business Roundtable to explore new avenues for collaboration.
The External Affairs Ministry welcomed the Singapore delegation, describing ISMR as a “unique mechanism” to strengthen the CSP, which was elevated during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024.
The ISMR was launched in September 2022 in New Delhi, with the second edition held in Singapore in August 2024. Over the years, India and Singapore have built strong ties based on trust, mutual respect, and extensive cooperation across multiple sectors.
Both sides expressed optimism that the outcomes of the latest roundtable will accelerate progress in strategic areas and set a fresh agenda for bilateral cooperation in the coming years.
