Celebrating India’s 79th independence day
By: Dr Avi Verma
As we proudly celebrate August 15th, 2025 — India’s 79th Independence Day — I extend my warmest greetings to every Indian, whether in our beloved motherland or spread across the world. This day is more than a date in history; it is a reminder of the extraordinary journey our nation has undertaken since 1947.
From the ashes of colonial rule, India rose as a sovereign democracy—diverse yet united, rich in culture and resilient in spirit. In these 79 years, we have transformed from a newly independent nation grappling with poverty and illiteracy into one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, a technological powerhouse, a space-faring nation, and a global voice for peace and justice.
Our scientists placed India among the elite nations with the Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan space missions. Our entrepreneurs have built companies that compete on a global scale. Our engineers, doctors, and innovators have earned respect in every corner of the world. The “Make in India” and digital revolutions are reshaping our industries, while our robust startup ecosystem has become a magnet for global investment.
Politically, India has emerged as a confident and independent player on the world stage. Our foreign policy, grounded in strategic autonomy, has forged enduring friendships while asserting our national interests with strength and dignity. India now speaks as an equal partner in global forums—from the G20 to the United Nations—helping shape conversations on trade, climate change, security, and sustainable development.
Economically, India has steadily reduced its dependency on others, building self-reliance in key sectors such as defense manufacturing, renewable energy, and advanced technology. We are no longer just participants in the global economy—we are shaping it.
Today, India stands tall—respected by allies, recognized by competitors, and admired by the world for its resilience, democracy, and commitment to progress. This rise has been powered by the hard work of the Indian masses—farmers, workers, teachers, scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, and every citizen who contributes daily to our national success story.
On this Independence Day, let us honor the sacrifices of our freedom fighters by continuing to build an India that leads with wisdom, grows with innovation, and stands united in diversity. The world is watching, and India’s best chapters are yet to be written.
Jai Hind!
