Devotional legend Lakhbir Singh Lakha’s U.S. tour ‘Mela Maiya Da’ expands to New York and Chicago, turning Chowkis into spiritual festivals

Following the resounding success of opening Chowkis in Dallas and Virginia, and the overwhelming reception in Chicago and Boston, legendary bhajan singer Lakhbir Singh Lakha continues to spread waves of devotion across the United States. With the latest stops in Roslyn, NY, and Bloomingdale, IL, the “Mela Maiya Da” tour is transforming into a nationwide devotional movement, uniting thousands of devotees in evenings of soulful bhakti and turning traditional Chowkis into grand spiritual festivals.
Week three highlights: Roslyn, NY and Chicago’s Radhey Shyam Temple
Roslyn, New York
On the East Coast, the Roslyn Chowki offered a more intimate but equally powerful experience. A by-invitation-only gathering of 200 devotees filled the beautifully decorated Bhawan, designed by professional decorators that brought back memories of Chowkis in India.
Lakha Ji and Panna Gill kept devotees on their feet for hours, singing, dancing, and chanting divine bhajans in unison. The overwhelming response from the audience underscored the tour’s spiritual impact, leaving many describing the evening as “truly unforgettable.”
Bloomingdale, Illinois – Radhey Shyam Temple
Back in Chicago, over 400 devotees packed Shree Radhey Shyam Mandir for yet another blissful Chowki. The atmosphere was electric with nonstop singing, dancing, and chanting, as the temple reverberated with divine energy.
In an emotional moment, Lakha Ji called Radhey Shyam Mandir his home in America, remarking: “When I come here, I feel at home.” This marked his fifth visit to the temple, making the evening all the more special for the congregation.
The Chowki was jointly organized by Shree Radhey Shyam Temple and Jagran TV Chicago. Key sponsorship came from Dharam Vir Sharma of Radhey Shyam Temple and Jagran TV Chicago, with generous support from many members of the Sharma family and other devotees who contributed financially or in service. The Jyot Prachand was performed on behalf of Mrs. Shobha Kumar of Indiana. Devotees from surrounding temples also attended, making it a truly communal celebration.
