
Kala Utsav 2025 brings India’s cultural vibrance to Naperville

The Consulate General of India in Chicago hosted its annual Kala Utsav 2025 at the Yellow Box Theatre in Naperville, drawing more than 500 attendees from across the community. The much-anticipated cultural showcase celebrated India’s vibrant heritage with an evening of music, dance, and artistic performances by talented local artists.
The program began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, led by Consul General Somnath Ghosh, along with Ward 10 Alderwoman Shweta Baid and Naperville Township Trustee Gautam Bhatia. In his remarks, Consul General Ghosh thanked dignitaries, community organizations, and ethnic media partners for their support. He reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to promoting Indian languages, films, and arts across American universities and cultural institutions.
Ghosh emphasized that Kala Utsav is part of a broader effort to showcase emerging youth and artists. He outlined plans for future cultural initiatives in partnership with local organizations, aimed at strengthening Indian-American ties. Reflecting on India’s motto of unity in diversity, he noted that the nation’s strength lies in its ability to remain united despite cultural, linguistic, and religious differences.
Alderwoman Baid, Trustee Bhatia, Ms. Saba Haider, and Ms. Bhavini Patel also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of cultural exchange in building community bonds. The evening featured an array of Indian classical and regional dance performances, with emcee Anindita Anaam adding a lively touch through her engaging hosting.
With performances spanning India’s vast cultural landscape, Kala Utsav 2025 not only highlighted the richness of Indian traditions but also strengthened cultural connections between India and the United States. The event underscored the Consulate’s ongoing dedication to artistic exchange and community engagement.
