Consulate General of India, Chicago to celebrate 10th Ayurveda Day with focus on ‘Ayurveda for People and Planet’

The Consulate General of India, Chicago will host a special program on Friday to commemorate the 10th Ayurveda Day, highlighting the ancient Indian system of medicine as a pathway to holistic health and sustainable living. The event will take place on October 3, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Consulate premises in the NBC Building, 455 N Cityfront Plaza Dr., Suite 850, Chicago, and will be followed by light refreshments.

This year’s theme, “Ayurveda for People and Planet,” emphasizes Ayurveda’s role not just as a healthcare practice but as a lifestyle philosophy deeply connected to nature. The system, considered humanity’s earliest documented healthcare tradition, focuses equally on disease prevention and the promotion of overall well-being.

As part of the program, Global Indian Scientists and Technocrats (GIST) will present their Nutrition 360 Campaign, an initiative to raise awareness about balanced nutrition by integrating traditional foods with modern nutritional science rooted in Ayurveda.

Organizers say the commemoration seeks to inspire a new healthcare revolution aligned with the One Health vision — reinforcing Ayurveda’s relevance in addressing both personal health and planetary sustainability.

The Consulate expects participation from community leaders, professionals, and wellness enthusiasts, underscoring the growing recognition of Ayurveda as a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern health practices.
