Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri congratulates RSS on centenary, hails 100-year journey
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday congratulated the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on completing 100 years, lauding its century-long journey dedicated to Bharat and its people. The RSS was founded by K.B. Hedgewar on Dussehra in 1925 in Nagpur.
Taking to X, Puri wrote, “Congratulations to RSS on reaching the historic milestone in their momentous journey dedicated to Bharat, Bharatwasis, and the glorious future to come.” He highlighted the Sangh’s enduring commitment to serving national interests and fostering patriotic consciousness.
Describing the RSS as a “philosophical Banyan Tree,” Puri noted how the organisation, guided by the vision of Guruji M.S. Golwalkar and Sh. Balasaheb Deoras, has grown from a small sapling into a movement with deep roots in nationalist thought and societal development.
Puri emphasised that the centenary is a celebration of an idea born out of determination to preserve and propagate India’s rich cultural and civilisational heritage. He praised the dedication of countless Swayamsevaks over the last century who have contributed to nation-building under the guiding principle: “Nation First.”
“The thought has nourished every part of our nation, like a mighty river. Through its affiliated organisations, the Sangh works across diverse fields, yet embodies one spirit – Nation First,” he added.
The Union Minister also highlighted the Sangh’s focus on character-building as a cornerstone of nation-building. “Since its inception, the RSS has emphasised ‘Vyakti nirmaan se rashtra nirmaan’ – nation-building through character-building – a trait defining its patriotic and nationalist values,” Puri noted.
Hardeep Singh Puri’s message underscores the RSS’s centenary as a milestone not just in its organisational journey, but in shaping India’s social and cultural landscape over the past century.
