In a gesture underscoring the UAE’s deep commitment to interfaith harmony and cultural inclusivity, Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development (DCD), visited the iconic BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi earlier this week, accompanied by senior officials.
The delegation was welcomed by Swami Brahmaviharidas, who led a tour of the Mandir and shared its vision of love, peace, and harmony. The visit served as a platform for dialogue on the UAE’s enduring values of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and social diversity.
Swami Brahmaviharidas expressed heartfelt gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support and visionary leadership, highlighting the Mandir’s next development phases and its role in strengthening inter-community bonds.
Al Khaili praised the Mandir as a “symbol of unity,” commending its efforts to foster understanding among diverse communities and advance the UAE’s vision of a tolerant, inclusive society. The DCD delegation acknowledged the Mandir’s growing impact in promoting community cohesion and cross-cultural respect.
The visit marks another milestone in deepening collaboration between government institutions and faith-based organizations working to preserve harmony within the UAE’s multicultural landscape.
Last month, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, also visited the Mandir, expressing admiration for its architecture and spirit of inclusivity. Swami Brahmaviharidas thanked him for his steadfast support in the Mandir’s creation and sustainability efforts.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir, inaugurated earlier this year, continues to serve as a living embodiment of the UAE’s philosophy of coexistence — bringing together people of all faiths to celebrate shared human values.
