
Indian envoy visits Bukhara University in Uzbekistan, discusses educational cooperation
India’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Smita Pant, visited Bukhara State University, where she met with Rector Obidjon Khamidov to explore opportunities for scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries.
During her visit, Ambassador Pant also delivered the keynote address at a seminar on “Intelligent Learning Platforms and Automated Systems,” highlighting India’s growing engagement in digital education and technology-driven learning.
“Amb Smita Pant visited Bukhara State University and discussed prospects for scientific and educational cooperation with the Rector, Mr Obidjon Khamidov. She also delivered the Keynote Address at a Seminar on ‘Intelligent Learning Platforms and Automated Systems’ at the University,” the Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan stated on X.
Earlier, the Ambassador participated in an event marking the International Day of the Girl Child at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, where she spoke about India’s social welfare initiatives, including the ‘Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child’ (Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao) campaign and other women empowerment schemes.
Last week, Pant also presented cutting-edge software tools developed by the Indian Army Training Team to the University of Military Security and Defence, reinforcing the India-Uzbekistan strategic partnership in the fields of IT, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
India and Uzbekistan share long-standing ties rooted in history, culture, and strategic cooperation. India was among the first countries to recognise Uzbekistan’s independence, and both sides established diplomatic relations in 1992. The relationship was elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2011, with multiple institutional dialogues fostering cooperation across education, defence, and technology.
