PM Modi thanks Netanyahu for Diwali wishes, hopes India–Israel ties ‘continue to flourish’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed gratitude to his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, for his warm Diwali greetings and extended birthday wishes to him, underscoring the deep friendship and growing partnership between the two nations.
“Thank you, my dear friend, for your warm Diwali greetings. I also extend my heartiest wishes on your birthday. Wishing you good health and success. May the India–Israel Strategic Partnership continue to flourish in the years to come,” PM Modi posted on X.
Netanyahu had earlier wished Modi and the people of India a Happy Diwali, expressing hope that the festival would bring “hope, peace, and prosperity” to the nation. “Israel and India stand together — partners in innovation, friendship, defense, and a brighter future,” the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated in a post on X.
The Israeli Embassy in India also joined the celebrations, sharing a festive video of its diplomats shopping for Diwali décor, making rangoli, and lighting diyas. “May our homes be filled with love and light, today and every day! Happy Diwali,” the Embassy wrote.
Israel Embassy spokesperson Guy Nir shared his personal Diwali experience, calling it a “beautiful celebration of friendship and unity.” He added, “From delicious sweets and incredible food to vibrant lights, energetic dance, and endless laughter, every moment was a joy. Thank you, India, for sharing your light with us. Shubh Diwali!”
The exchange of greetings reflects the enduring bond between India and Israel, rooted in shared values of democracy, innovation, and cultural warmth — a relationship that continues to grow stronger through mutual respect and cooperation across technology, defense, and people-to-people ties.
