Trump says Russia, China, Pakistan among nations conducting nuclear tests, vows US will resume testing

US President Donald Trump has claimed that multiple nations — including Russia, China, North Korea, and Pakistan — are conducting nuclear weapons tests. In an interview with CBS News, Trump said the United States must also resume testing after more than three decades of restraint, asserting it was vital to maintain national security.

“Russia’s testing, and China’s testing… and certainly North Korea and Pakistan have been testing,” Trump said, emphasizing that the US “has to test because they test.”

Trump added that while such activities often occur underground, the US could no longer afford to remain the only country refraining from nuclear tests. He reiterated that America possesses the world’s largest nuclear arsenal and must ensure its reliability.

The statement follows his recent Truth Social post directing the Department of War to “start testing our nuclear weapons on an equal basis” with other nations, marking a major shift in US nuclear policy after 33 years.
