Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrives in London to deepen India–UK Strategic Partnership
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has arrived in London on his first bilateral visit, marking a new phase in India–UK relations as both countries strengthen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and expand collaboration across key sectors.
The Indian High Commission in London shared a photo of Misri with High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami, noting that the visit “builds on the momentum from recent meetings between the two Prime Ministers.” Misri’s discussions are expected to advance cooperation in areas such as trade, defence, technology, education, and clean energy.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently described the India–UK relationship as a “dynamic and forward-looking partnership,” emphasizing that the past year has been “exceptional” for bilateral ties. Speaking at an event hosted by the British High Commission in New Delhi on King Charles’ birthday, Jaishankar recalled the adoption of the Vision 2035 roadmap, which outlines collaboration across five pillars — growth, innovation, defence, climate, and education.
The past months have seen landmark exchanges between the two nations. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited India in October with the largest-ever British trade delegation, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UK in July. Both leaders met at Chequers in Buckinghamshire, where they signed the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), further elevating the partnership and boosting trade, investment, and job creation.
Misri’s visit aims to sustain this diplomatic momentum, reinforcing the shared commitment to a modern, mutually beneficial partnership rooted in shared values, economic growth, and global cooperation.
