India and Armenia strengthen bilateral cooperation, hold 11th Foreign Office Consultations in Yerevan
India and Armenia on Saturday held the 11th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Yerevan, reaffirming their commitment to deepen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation on regional and global platforms.
The discussions covered a broad range of topics — from political dialogue and trade to public health, education, and multilateral cooperation. Both sides reviewed progress across key areas and exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, reflecting their shared vision for a stronger strategic partnership.
The Indian delegation was led by Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), while the Armenian side was headed by Mnatsakan Safaryan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia. During the visit, Sibi George also called on Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, further underscoring the growing momentum in India–Armenia relations.
A significant outcome of the consultations was the signing of an Agreement on Cooperation in Public Health and Medical Sciences between the two nations. The pact was signed by Nilakshi Saha Sinha, India’s Ambassador to Armenia, and Lena Nanushyan, Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Health. The agreement aims to promote collaboration in medical education, research, and healthcare technology exchange, strengthening people-to-people ties through public health initiatives.
Both countries agreed to hold the next round of consultations in India in 2026, marking continuity in diplomatic dialogue. The previous FOC was hosted in New Delhi in November 2023.
The latest engagement follows a series of recent high-level exchanges. Last month, Sibi George represented India at Armenia’s National Day celebrations in New Delhi, reaffirming New Delhi’s commitment to its partnership with the West Asian nation. Earlier this year, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan visited India, where he met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to review cooperation in trade, connectivity, culture, and education.
In August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, where both leaders emphasized strengthening economic and strategic collaboration.
India and Armenia continue to share warm relations rooted in history, mutual trust, and shared global outlook. The Yerevan consultations further cement the foundation for cooperation in health, commerce, and regional diplomacy.
