Red Fort blast: Union Cabinet orders urgent probe to identify terror perpetrators

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has directed security and investigative agencies to pursue the Red Fort blast case with “utmost urgency and professionalism” to ensure that the perpetrators, collaborators, and sponsors behind the terror attack are swiftly brought to justice.

The Cabinet met in New Delhi on Wednesday following the November 10 car explosion near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort, which killed at least eight people and left several others injured. Describing the incident as a “heinous terror attack perpetrated by anti-national forces,” the Cabinet expressed its deep sorrow and solidarity with the victims and their families.

At the start of the meeting, the members observed two minutes of silence in memory of the victims. In an official statement, the Cabinet condemned the “senseless act of violence” and reaffirmed India’s policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

“The Cabinet conveys heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prays for the speedy recovery of all those injured. It also appreciates the tireless efforts of medical personnel and emergency responders providing care and support to the victims,” the statement said.

It further lauded the security forces and citizens who acted “with courage and compassion” during the chaos that followed the explosion. The Cabinet also welcomed global expressions of solidarity and messages of support from governments and organizations around the world.

“The situation continues to be closely monitored at the highest levels of government,” it added.

Soon after returning from a two-day visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister Modi visited Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, where several injured victims are receiving treatment. He interacted with the medical staff and assured families that the government will extend all possible assistance.

The investigation is being coordinated among central intelligence agencies, Delhi Police, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Forensic experts have been deployed to analyze explosive residues and vehicle fragments recovered from the site.

The attack marks one of the most serious terror incidents in the national capital in recent years and has prompted heightened security around key installations and public areas.
