
A night of music and philanthropy strengthens Indiana’s commitment to ending classroom hunger

The 2025 Akshaya Patra Indiana Chapter hosted a musical fundraiser at the Indian American Cultural Center in Merrillville, bringing together a large gathering of supporters united by a shared mission to end classroom hunger for children in India. The evening was warm, inspiring, and reflective of the community’s long-standing dedication to Akshaya Patra’s work.
Guests were captivated by the soulful and energetic performance of National Award Winning Music Composer Bishakh Jyoti. His music filled the hall with joy and celebration, while a delicious dinner added to the sense of connection and purpose.
Chapter Chairs Dr. Saket Sinha and Dr. Ravi Bhagwat, along with executive team members Soumita and Subir Bandyopadhyay, Dr. Shailesh Bhatt, Dr. Vijay Dharla, Darshana and Niru Patel, and Chandan Rai, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all guests, donors, and volunteers for their steadfast support.
A major highlight was the keynote address by entrepreneur and philanthropist Rajiv Khanna, whose inspiring message encouraged attendees to deepen their commitment to the cause. Akshaya Patra USA CEO Navin Goel also offered insights into the organization’s impact and outlined its vision for the years ahead.
As the chapter reflected on the success of the event, the team shared excitement for 2026 and renewed dedication to service and community engagement. The funds raised will help ensure countless children receive nutritious meals that keep them in school and moving toward brighter futures.
