PM Modi ‘very charismatic, phenomenal leader’: Polish Secretary of State

Visiting Polish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Wladyslaw Bartoszewski has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “very charismatic and phenomenal leader,” saying India is fortunate to have him at the helm during a period of rapid transformation.

In an exclusive interview with IANS in New Delhi, Bartoszewski said PM Modi’s leadership has reshaped India and set the country on a strong growth trajectory. He credited the Prime Minister’s ambitious vision for driving economic expansion, technological progress, and global influence.

“I believe Prime Minister Modi is a phenomenal leader. His charisma is evident from his repeated electoral victories. He has changed India dramatically and pursues a very ambitious vision for the nation. We are deeply impressed by his achievements,” Bartoszewski said.

Speaking personally, he described Modi as warm and engaging. “Privately, he is charming, approachable, and inspiring. Many Indians clearly trust his leadership, which has helped India emerge as the world’s fourth-largest economy and a rapidly rising global power,” he added.

Turning to India–Poland relations, Bartoszewski said bilateral ties are on a strong upward trajectory following PM Modi’s historic visit to Warsaw in 2024 — the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 45 years. During that visit, both countries elevated relations to a Strategic Partnership and agreed on a five-year Joint Action Plan (2024–2028).

He noted that Poland and India are now deepening cooperation across defence, digital technology, space, cybersecurity, high-tech industries, and investment. He also highlighted recent progress in trade discussions following the EU–India Free Trade Agreement talks.

Bartoszewski said multiple high-level exchanges are planned in the coming months, including visits by Poland’s Deputy Ministers for Digital Affairs and Development, as well as a possible visit by the Polish Prime Minister to New Delhi later this year.

He also recalled the recent joint space collaboration, noting that the launch of an Indian and Polish astronaut into orbit symbolises growing scientific and technological cooperation.

India and Poland continue to expand dialogue across business, security, technology, and geopolitics, reinforcing their strategic partnership in an evolving global order.
