CMAA brings hope and support to families during Lunar New Year 2026
As communities across the United States prepare to celebrate Lunar New Year 2026, the Year of the Golden Horse brings renewed energy, optimism, and forward momentum. The Golden Horse symbolizes strength, resilience, progress, and determination—qualities that resonate deeply in today’s rapidly changing world.
In Chicago and surrounding communities, the Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is marking the festive season not only with celebration but also with service. While Lunar New Year is traditionally a time for family gatherings, cultural performances, and renewal, CMAA continues its mission of supporting families through vital social services—at no cost to those in need.
CMAA provides assistance in essential areas including SNAP/LINK, TANF, AABD food and cash programs, Medicaid enrollment, and energy assistance for heating and cooling bills. Housing support through CHA Section 8, senior transit benefits, and benefit access programs are also available. For immigrant and multilingual communities, translation and interpretation services in Cantonese, Mandarin, Burmese, Lao, Thai, Hindi, and Vietnamese ensure that language is never a barrier to receiving help.
The organization operates multiple offices in Chicago and Elgin, offering case management and referrals to connect individuals with appropriate local resources. As the Golden Horse ushers in spring and new beginnings, CMAA’s outreach reflects the deeper meaning of the season—community support, shared prosperity, and hope for a brighter year ahead.
Lunar New Year 2026 is more than a cultural milestone; it is a reminder that strength comes from unity, compassion, and service. The Golden Horse welcomes spring with determination and generosity—values that continue to guide communities forward.
