PM Modi urges nation to stay united and alert amid global crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called on the nation to remain united, alert, and prepared in the face of the ongoing crisis in West Asia, warning that its global impact could persist for a prolonged period.

Addressing the Lok Sabha, the Prime Minister drew parallels with India’s response during the Covid-19 pandemic, emphasizing that collective resilience and discipline would be essential once again. “We stood united and faced such circumstances during the Covid pandemic. In the same manner, we must stay ready this time as well,” he said, urging citizens to confront challenges with patience and perseverance.

Modi cautioned that crises often create opportunities for disruptive elements. He said all agencies responsible for maintaining law and order have been placed on heightened alert. Security measures are being strengthened across coastal areas, borders, cyber networks, and critical infrastructure to ensure national safety.

He also urged state governments to remain vigilant against misinformation, hoarding, and black marketing. “There are people who will try to spread lies and take advantage of the situation. We must not let them succeed,” he said, calling for strict monitoring and action against such activities.

Highlighting the broader implications of the West Asia conflict, the Prime Minister acknowledged that India faces significant economic, security, and humanitarian challenges. He noted that the crisis has already affected the global economy and disrupted daily life in many regions, with no immediate resolution in sight.

Modi emphasized the strategic importance of West Asia for India, particularly in terms of trade and energy security. A substantial portion of India’s crude oil and gas imports pass through the region, making stability there crucial for the country’s economic well-being.

He also pointed out that nearly one crore Indians live and work in Gulf countries, while a large number of Indian seafarers operate in nearby waters. Ensuring their safety remains a top priority for the government.

The Prime Minister said India has been actively engaging with countries in the region, including direct conversations with several heads of state, who have assured the safety of Indian nationals. He added that Indian missions abroad are continuously assisting citizens, providing support to those affected, and ensuring access to medical care where needed.

While acknowledging casualties and injuries among Indians during the crisis, Modi assured that affected families are receiving necessary assistance.

As tensions in West Asia continue, the Prime Minister reiterated that unity, vigilance, and coordinated action between citizens and governments will be key to navigating the challenges ahead.
