Palm Beach airport set to take Donald Trump’s name from July 1

Palm Beach International Airport is set to be renamed “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” after a new state law backing the move was signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, marking a significant symbolic gesture honoring the former president.

The announcement was confirmed by Eric Trump, who said the renaming had been officially approved following legislative action in Florida. In a post on social media, he expressed pride in contributing to the effort and thanked state officials, lawmakers, and Attorney General James Uthmeier for their support in advancing the proposal.

The name change is expected to take effect from July 1, though several procedural steps must be completed before it is fully implemented. While airport naming decisions are handled at the local level and do not require federal approval, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will need to carry out administrative updates. These include revising navigational charts, airport databases, and official aviation records to reflect the new designation.

Palm Beach International Airport, located near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, has long been associated with the former president, making it a fitting choice for the renaming, according to supporters of the move. The decision reflects continued political backing for Trump within Florida, a state that has played a central role in his political career.

Separately, the Trump Organization has taken steps to secure the commercial use of the new airport name. In February, the company filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office covering a range of travel-related goods, including luggage, clothing, and accessories bearing the airport’s new branding.

However, the organization has emphasized that the renaming itself will not generate financial benefits for Trump or his family. In a statement, the company clarified that there would be no royalties, licensing fees, or any other form of financial consideration linked to the use of the airport’s new name.

The move has drawn attention both for its political symbolism and for its practical implications, as aviation authorities and local agencies work to update systems and signage ahead of the official transition date.

Once completed, the renaming will make Palm Beach’s airport one of the few major transportation hubs in the United States to be named after a modern political figure, reflecting the enduring influence of Donald Trump in the region.
