Tensions between Iran and the United States intensified sharply after Tehran issued a direct and defiant response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s ultimatum over the Strait of Hormuz, warning that the strategic waterway “will never return to its former state.”

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced it is preparing for what it described as a “new Persian Gulf order,” signaling a potential shift in regional dynamics. The statement came shortly after Trump threatened to target Iran’s energy infrastructure if Tehran failed to reopen the vital shipping route.

“The Strait of Hormuz will never return to its former state, especially for the US and Israel,” the IRGC Navy said in a statement posted on social media, adding that operational preparations were underway for implementing Iran’s broader strategic plan.

The warning was accompanied by a stronger message from Iran’s central military command, which cautioned that any further attacks on civilian infrastructure would trigger a significantly more “devastating and widespread” retaliation. Officials emphasized that Iran’s response would escalate proportionally if its critical assets were targeted.

Iran’s political leadership also joined the chorus of warnings. Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf criticized Trump’s approach, calling it “reckless” and warning that continued escalation could engulf the entire region in conflict. In a public statement, he said such actions risk dragging the United States into prolonged instability while increasing the likelihood of a broader regional crisis.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry reiterated its position that any attack on its infrastructure would be met with a reciprocal response. Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Iranian forces would target infrastructure linked to the United States if aggression continues, underscoring the seriousness of Tehran’s deterrence posture.
