BJUS hosts colorful Holi Milan celebration in Hinsdale

The Bihar Jharkhand Association of Midwest (BJUS) brought together more than 200 community members for a vibrant Holi Milan celebration at The Community House, marking an evening filled with culture, unity, and tradition.

The program opened with the national anthems of the United States and India, followed by a moment of silence in memory of former BJUS President Poornima Jha, in recognition of her contributions to the community.

A series of cultural performances by children and adults showcased the rich heritage of Bihar and Jharkhand through traditional dance and music. The ceremonial diya lighting, symbolizing hope and new beginnings, was led by Chief Guest Lima Mathew, Consul (Head of Chancery and Community Affairs), along with BJUS leadership.

A major highlight of the evening was a tabla and Kathak jugalbandi performed by Bindoo Pathak and her team from the Jugalbandi Academy, blending rhythm and classical dance. A lively dance tribute to actor Dharmendra also drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Guests enjoyed traditional Holi delicacies including malpua, kathal sabji, dahi vada, and thandai, while music and a DJ kept the festive energy going throughout the event.

Chief Guest Lima Mathew, along with community leaders Neelam Dwivedi and Ashok Lakshmanan, addressed the gathering, speaking about cultural continuity and the importance of community engagement. The program was anchored by Rohini Sinha and Pramod Singh, whose lively emceeing added to the evening’s flow.

BJUS President Shikha Kumari thanked attendees and volunteers, highlighting the organization’s 35-year journey and emphasizing that its strength lies in active community participation.

The celebration concluded on a festive note, reinforcing BJUS’s mission to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen community bonds through shared gatherings.
