The Chicago chapter of the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation hosted a vibrant and sold-out fundraiser in 2026, drawing more than 700 donors, guests, and dignitaries united in support of education for rural and tribal communities in India.
The evening began with the national anthems, followed by a traditional diya-lighting ceremony that created a respectful and inspiring atmosphere. The highlight of the program was a captivating musical performance by renowned artist Milind Oak and his acclaimed group, whose energetic and nostalgic presentation delighted audiences across generations while reinforcing the foundation’s mission.
During the event, organizers shared updates on Ekal Vidyalaya’s continuing impact through its one-teacher school model, which provides education, healthcare awareness, and skill development in underserved regions. In a remarkable show of generosity, attendees pledged support for more than 100 Ekal schools, marking a significant milestone in expanding access to learning opportunities.
The program was carefully organized by the Chicago Metro and North Chapter teams. One of the evening’s standout moments was the strong participation of youth volunteers, whose leadership and dedication earned widespread appreciation. Their visible role reflected the rise of a promising new generation of community leaders.
The event was guided by a committed leadership team that included Kamlesh Shah, Ankita Shah, Rootvij Bhatt, and Kinnari Sachala, supported by an energetic core group of volunteers and organizers who worked tirelessly to ensure the program’s success.
Beyond its flagship one-teacher schools, the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation also leads several integrated rural development initiatives, including digital literacy, women’s empowerment, vocational training, health awareness, and sustainable farming programs.
The 2026 fundraiser not only celebrated culture and community spirit but also reaffirmed a shared commitment to empowering children through education where it is needed most. The evening left attendees inspired and strengthened support for a cause that continues to transform lives.
