
NSA Doval underscores enhanced trust, deeper understanding between India and China
National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval emphasized the need for stable, predictable and constructive relations between India and China during his meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the BRICS National Security Advisors’ Meeting in New Delhi.
According to Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, Doval noted that stronger bilateral ties would help foster greater trust and deeper understanding between the two neighboring nations. He also highlighted the importance of both countries showing consistent sensitivity toward each other’s core concerns, in line with India’s approach based on mutual sensitivity, mutual interests and mutual respect.
The meeting reviewed recent developments in India-China relations and acknowledged progress toward the gradual normalization of ties. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong, and other senior officials were also present during the discussions.
India hosted the two-day BRICS National Security Advisors’ Meeting, bringing together senior security officials from member nations to discuss evolving global security challenges and avenues for deeper cooperation.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the visiting national security advisors and heads of delegation. In a post on X, the Prime Minister stressed that BRICS has an increasingly important role in strengthening security cooperation amid a rapidly changing global environment.
He noted that India’s BRICS Chairmanship in 2026 would focus on advancing practical cooperation, supporting Global South priorities, and promoting a safer, more secure and inclusive world.
During the deliberations, participants discussed a range of traditional and non-traditional security concerns, including terrorism, cybersecurity, energy security, food security, supply chain resilience, climate-induced instability, and the misuse of emerging technologies by terrorist groups.
The officials also reviewed the outcomes of BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and Information and Communication Technologies. Member countries reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and strengthening cooperation through information sharing, capacity building, and coordination among law enforcement agencies.
The delegates expressed full support for India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026 under the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
