Bharatiya Seniors of Chicago brought members together for its annual summer picnic on Sunday in Warrenville, Illinois, offering a full day of recreation, fellowship, cultural activities and community service.
The event featured a lively mix of entertainment and recreational activities, including music, bingo, musical chairs, traditional indoor games and Garba dancing. Pleasant weather, with occasional light showers, added to the festive atmosphere as members celebrated friendship, community and Indian culture.
A wide selection of traditional Indian food was served throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch, refreshments, desserts and dinner. Participants also enjoyed soft drinks, ice cream, kulfi, fresh fruits and other treats.
One of the key highlights was a free health camp, where senior members received heart screenings, electrocardiograms and other basic medical tests. The initiative reflected the organization’s focus on health awareness and preventive care for seniors.
Members also received complimentary gifts and wellness items through the support of sponsors and partner organizations. Several community partners participated by setting up information booths and distributing promotional materials and useful household items.
Volunteers played an important role in organizing the picnic, managing food service, games and logistics throughout the day. The organization’s leadership expressed appreciation to the volunteers, sponsors, healthcare professionals and participants whose support helped make the event successful.
The annual gathering once again gave Bharatiya Seniors of Chicago members an opportunity to strengthen community bonds while enjoying a day filled with cultural activities, entertainment, good food and health awareness. Many participants later attended a Sundar Kand program at the National India Hub, bringing the day of community engagement to a meaningful close.
