Survivors of Venezuela’s devastating earthquakes have expressed heartfelt gratitude to India as the Indian Army’s Field Hospital continues to provide life-saving medical care under Operation Amistad, India’s humanitarian relief mission launched after the twin earthquakes that struck the South American nation on June 24.

The Indian medical team has been working around the clock in Caracas, offering emergency surgeries, trauma care, orthopedic treatment, and comprehensive medical support to hundreds of injured survivors.

Videos shared by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted emotional testimonials from patients and their families, who praised the professionalism and compassion of the Indian doctors, nurses, and support staff.

Lizzet Rodriguez, whose son Anthony Aguilarte suffered a fractured femur, thanked the Government of India after he received successful treatment at the Army Field Hospital.

“I would like to thank the Government of India for supporting the Venezuelan people during this tragedy. Thank you to India and its wonderful team of doctors and interpreters,” she said.

Another survivor, Yoe Garcia, who sustained multiple fractures during the earthquake, credited the Indian medical team for helping him recover.

“Thanks to the Government of India, I underwent surgery for fractures in my arm and foot. I am now moving forward,” Garcia said.

The MEA described the mission as an example of India’s humanitarian commitment, posting, “Healing hands. Shared humanity. The Army Field Hospital carries forward its humanitarian mission in Venezuela.”

The Indian Army said its medical personnel continue to serve as “a beacon of hope,” earning the trust of local communities through dedicated medical care and emergency relief.

According to Venezuelan authorities, the disaster has claimed 2,954 lives, injured more than 16,500 people, and displaced over 16,000 residents. Rescue operations remain underway, with nearly 30,000 rescuers, including international teams, continuing search and relief efforts as hundreds of aftershocks have been recorded.

India’s Operation Amistad reflects the country’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, providing critical medical support while standing in solidarity with the people of Venezuela during one of the nation’s worst natural disasters.
