Gujarati Seniors of Chicago marked another milestone with the inauguration of its new Naperville branch on Saturday, July 25, expanding its outreach to the growing senior community in the western suburbs of Chicago.

The new branch was launched under the leadership of Praful Shah, president of Gujarati Seniors of Chicago (Schaumburg). Nearly 200 seniors attended the opening celebration, held at the banquet hall of Naperville Covenant Church.

The day-long event featured a variety of cultural and recreational activities designed to promote active and healthy aging. Seniors participated in music, dance, drama, games, and other entertainment programs, creating a lively atmosphere of fellowship and community engagement.

Beyond entertainment, organizers emphasized education and wellness. Informational sessions introduced seniors to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and ChatGPT, with plans to offer future computer and AI training programs. Presentations also focused on senior healthcare resources, personal safety, and life-protection awareness to help older adults navigate everyday challenges with greater confidence.

Community partners and sponsors supported the event, with several healthcare and senior service organizations sharing information about resources and services available to older adults.

Guests were served breakfast, lunch, and dessert throughout the celebration, which organizers described as a successful beginning for the new chapter. Participants expressed enthusiasm for the expanded programming and opportunities to connect with fellow seniors.

Organizers said the Naperville branch aims to provide regular social, educational, and wellness activities for seniors and encouraged older adults from the surrounding communities to become members and participate in future programs.
