The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA)-Chicago organized its second Tricolor Car Rally in Schaumburg as part of the Indian-American community’s celebrations marking India’s Independence Day.

Nearly 50 decorated vehicles participated in the rally, carrying the Indian and American flags. Families and community members joined the procession, which highlighted Indian heritage and the shared connection of the diaspora with both India and the United States.

The rally began with the National Anthem, followed by patriotic slogans including “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” “Vande Mataram,” “God Bless America,” and “Long Live America.” Participants traveled through the area in a display of the Tricolor and community spirit.

Representatives and members of several Chicago-area Indian-American organizations participated in the event. These included Shree Ram Group, Karni Sena, Shree Sanatan Sewa Foundation, Maharashtra Mandal, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), Vishva Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), Sewa International, Ekal Vidyalaya, and senior-care organizations including MAFS, UMAS, Care for Soul, and Happy Hearts.

The event provided an opportunity for community organizations and families to come together outside their regular activities and participate in a shared Independence Day celebration. The presence of both Indian and American flags also reflected the dual cultural connection experienced by many members of the Indian-American community.

Following the car rally, FIA-Chicago members joined other community organizations and residents at the flag-hoisting ceremony and Independence Day Parade hosted by National India Hub.

FIA-Chicago is also scheduled to participate in additional Independence Day-related programs in the coming days. A Patriotic Gala is planned for August 16 at 6 p.m. at Haridham Mandir, followed by the Grand Independence Day Parade on August 23 on Devon Avenue.

The series of events forms part of the broader Independence Day celebrations taking place across the Chicago area, with community organizations using the occasion to promote cultural heritage, civic participation, and fellowship among Indian-Americans.
