Bharatiya Seniors of Chicago (BSC) celebrated Janmashtami with an evening of bhajans, Dandiya Raas and devotional activities at Rana Reagan Hall in Carol Stream. Around 80 senior members participated in the celebration. The hall was decorated with colorful lights for the occasion. Members of the group took part in traditional Dandiya Ras as part of the Janmashtami festivities, creating a lively atmosphere while observing the religious significance of the festival.

Bachubhai Pagdal, a member of BSC, appeared dressed as Vasudev, adding a traditional element to the program commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna. The program was held from approximately 8 p.m. until midnight and included devotional bhajans and Dandiya Raas. Tea, coffee, snacks and water were also served to the participants during the evening.

At midnight, the celebration reached its traditional high point as participants marked the birth of Lord Krishna with chants of “Nand Gher Anand Bhayo, Jai Kanhaiyalal Ki.” Members then continued with Dandiya Ras before concluding the evening.

BSC President Haribhai Patel thanked the members and volunteers who participated in organizing and supporting the Janmashtami program.

The celebration provided BSC members an opportunity to observe Janmashtami together while combining traditional devotional practices with social interaction among the senior community.
